| Notes: | (From her pen) "... [A]ll through high school I have been involved with horses. I laugh thinking back to Mom telling |
| someone one day that once I started getting interested in
boys, the horses would go. I just started dating cowboys. Ha!
"... I remarried in '88 to Steve Ward and moved to Iowa for a year before we moved to South Texas. Steve has 3 grown children. We raise cutting horses along with living on the King Ranch where Steve contracts the foot work on the horses here. Steve is a farrier by trade. "I never had any children of my own but instead got involved with my animals. I have 3 Border Collies that I am training along with a very spoiled Schnauzer that trains me. We have 8 head of horses and we take in a few outside horses for training. When we travel, we always have a horse trailer following us. "I never could understand being raised in Omaha, how I could be so horse crazy until Mom told me that Grandpa Stimler was a blacksmith. In a sense, I also married one with Steve being a horse shoer. It’s funny how our lives turn out. I love the cowboy life and had always wanted to move south and prayed every day while living in Nebraska, but I guess I prayed a little too hard. I wanted to live in Oklahoma. But ended up way in South Texas. "... I am named Teresa but I have gone by Tess for the last 20 years, but not by my family. Ha!" Teresa lived in Whitman, Nebraska; Luray, Kansas; Kingsville, Texas; Wilber, Nebraska; and Bishop, Texas. She died peacefully and without pain some time between 1:45 and 2:00 on Nov. 5, 2010. She had been in hospice at home in Kansas for approximately the last three weeks of her life. |
