"St. Cloud has three breweries that have a
combined capacity for the daily manufacture of seventy barrels of beer, and whose
product finds a market in the city and adjacent country. Together they consume annually
30,000 bushels of barley, which in ordinary seasons is furnished by the adjacent
country."

"This institution is located on Ninth avenue
between Sixth and Seventh streets north, Priess & Wimmer, proprietors. Their establishment
is furnished with a 32-horse power steam engine and is heated throughout by steam. Their
water supply is furnished by a natural spring of the purest and best quality, with sufficient
head for use in any part of their building. Their capacity is 25 barrels per day and they
employ ten men."

"Frank Balder,
proprietor, is located on Eighth avenue north between Fifth and Sixth streets, has a daily capacity
of 25 barrels and has one of the largest and finest brick malt houses in the state. A force of
eight men is employed the year round. Mr. Balder also runs his own cooper shop and has
bottling works in connection with the brewery, where two barrels of his own make of beer are
bottled daily. A fine spring supplies an abundance of pure water."
