Her father was working as a farmer in general farming along with her two eldest brothers.
At the time of the Apr. 9, 1940 U.S. census, Lorraine was 18 years old, single and living with Mrs. Paul J. Jurek and five other Jurek young adults between the ages of 13 and 26 years old in Mrs. Jurek's home that she owned valued at $1,2000 in St. George, Benton, Minnesota. She was living in the same house on Apr. 1, 1935. Stanley J. (age 23) and Peter P. Jurek (age 20) were working as farm laborers on the farm. Lorraine stated that the highest grade of education she had completed was her first year of high school. Lorraine married Harold Ross Hamel in 1942 in Broward County, Florida. She was his fourth wife; Harold had been previously married and divorced three times in Dade and Broward Counties between 1936 and 1942 from the time he was 19 years old. Lorraine and Harold would remain married until his death on Dec. 26, 1985 in Julian, San Diego, California at the age of 68. In 1959 Lorraine and Harold R. Hamel were living at 65304 Encina Drive in San Diego, San Diego, California. Her husband was working as a salesman. In 1988 when she was 66 years old, Lorraine was living at 4473 Luneta Drive in Julian, San Diego, California. She also lived on Cabernet Vineyards Circle in Julian. Lorraine was living in San Diego, California in 2000. |
