Joseph A. Stimler, age 88, Sauk Rapids, MN died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids, MN.
 
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 12:30 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel, Sauk Rapids, MN. Rev. Eugene Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the chapel in Sauk Rapids. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
 
Joseph Stimler was born November 19, 1915 in Foley, MN to Anthony and Mary (Kampa) Stimler. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Grand Marais, MN from April 1934 to May 1935. He married Gladys “Red” Grimm on November 10, 1938 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Foley, MN. Joe served in the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II. He owned and operated the Rockville Elevator until his retirement in 1972. After his retirement, Joe and Gladys moved to Fairfield Bay, Ark. Joe was a 4th Degree Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #8815 in Fairfield Bay, Ark and a lifetime member of VFW Post 4513 in Fairfield Bay, Ark.
 
Survivors include wife, Gladys “Red” Stimler of Sauk Rapids, MN; sons, Charlie Stimler of St. Cloud, MN; Pat (Joyce) Stimler of St. Cloud, MN; sister, Ann Hall of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren, Tammy (Doug) Treiber; Jesse (Jenny) Stimler; Sarah (Joe) Peltier and one great grandson, Sam Treiber. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Rube and six sisters, Helen, Alma, Marie, Leona, Florence and Delores.
