| Notes: |
In the April 7, 1930 census James was less than a year old and living
with his parents and his three older siblings on their own farm on
were Margaret F. Sweeney, age 23, a single roomer who was a
teacher at the public school, and Claude Parker, a 24-year-old hired
man who worked as a laborer on the farm. Brother Robert and sisters
Eunice and Dorothy were attending school. The family owned a radio.
In 1959 James Haaf was living in St. Cloud, Minnesota. In early November 1962, James was arrested by Internal Revenue agents and charged with failure to purchase a federal retail liquor dealers stamp. Federal officials confiscated three cases of liquor and wine in the raid. On Sept. 25, 1991 James attempted to shoot his former wife, Janette, in her car with a handgun outside Club Domino, the bar the couple used to own. James admitted that he "blew up" after a judge awarded his wife control of the bar while their divorce was pending. He was serving a 14-year-sentence in a medium-security prison in Fairbault, Minnesota when he was admitted to the Ramsey County Medical Center on July 10, where he died a month and a half later. He was 64 years old. |
