At the time of the Apr. 12, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Barbara was 14 years old and living with her parents and three sisters in the family home at 5332 Zenith Ave. S. in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, valued at $4,500. The family had been living in the same place in April 1935. Both her father and mother had completed four years of high school; elder sister Dorothy was in her freshman year of high school, Barbara was attending 8th grade, younger sister Margaret was in the 5th grade, and youngest sister Eloise was in the 3rd grade. Their father was working as a bookkeeper for the grain exchange. He worked 44 hours a week for 52 weeks in 1939, earning $2,700. Formerly employed at Renaissance West, Barbara loved her family. She lived in Buffalo and later in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. She enjoyed rock gardening, garage sales, cooking, crocheting, crafts and had a great sense of humor. Barbara passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday, October 10th, 2008 with her loving family by her side. She was 82 years old. |
