Obituary of Miss Anna Hall

"Death visited one of Foley's pioneer families on Friday, April 22, at 11:58 P. M. when Miss Anna Hall died in the St. Cloud hospital after a long and painful illness of more than six months.
"Miss Hall was born at Hall Mills, Ontario, Canada, October 19, 1879, being 58 years old at her death. She came to Foley, Minnesota, in November 1898 and was for so many years associated with her brothers in Hall Bros. Store and she knew everyone in the County. She was Post Mistress in Foley's early days, when the post office was located in Hall Bros. Store. She was an able, clever business woman, had a kind pl_______ personality, and was deeply interested in the old, the poor, and the afflicted. She loved all children and they loved her. Many old timers will recall her kindness and her help. Many of them called to see her, during her illness, which however was so severe as to prevent her visiting with any, but close relatives.
"She, with her mother has spent her winters for the past 25 years in the warm south, coming to Minnesota in the summers. She has made her home, during the past two years with her sister (Mrs. E. W. Swenson) in St. Paul.
"The surviving members of her family are her mother, Mrs. Ellen Hall, in St. Paul; Mrs. W. H. Lord, Mrs. J. H. Doheny; Mr. John Hall in Foley; Mr. W. E. Hall of St. Cloud; and Mrs. E. W. Swenson of St. Paul. The funeral took place Monday, April 26 at 10 A. M. from the residence of Dr. J. E. Doheny, to St. John's church where a Requiem Mass was said by her nephew, Rev. L. J. Lord of Minneapolis. In the Sanctuary were Rev. Eckert, of Chicago, a life time friend of the family, and Rev. Albert Loosen of St. Paul. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery at Foley, where Father Lord, assisted by Fathers Eckert, Loosen, and Wrobel read the burial service.
"There were many friends and relatives in attendance from nearby and the following from a distance: Mrs. C. D. O'Brien Jr., Mrs. W. J. Towie, Mrs. Mary Cannon, Miss Nell Foley, Mrs. H. E. Schneider, Dr. and Mrs. Ray Critchfield, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Swenson, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Lord, Mr. J. F. Mushe and the Misses Mary and Dorothy Doheny, Helen Latterell, Katherine and Ruth Swenson from St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hall, Miss Evelyn Hall, Mr. William Hall Jr., Mrs. W. L. Freeman, Mrs. William J. Bohmer, all from St. Cloud, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Foley from Minneapolis, Mr. D. D. Doheny from Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Miss Ellen Lord, from Hurley, Wis."
