"Leona was the one to teach me
to drive the Model A (laughing). She'd get so mad when I took corners because
she didn't think I was doing it right!
"She worked at the Hall Merchantile
for a long time. She married later in life and had no children. She'd get
so mad at her nieces and nephews she'd shake her finger at them. But she
had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back. She sent
money to Mom and Dad after the crash of 1929.
"She loved corn on the cob
and chicken. I heard this one time she ate eight cobs of corn and a whole
chicken!"
