Undated letter from Ruby Stickney (née Rhoades) to her great-grandchildren, approximately December 1955.

"Dear Rae Sandy & Dana:
"Here I am again writing you a letter. The other nite when I was sitting in the living room, some one knocked on the door. I just couldn't imagine who would be coming so late, but when I opened it, whom do you suppose it was? Santa Claus! I said, 'What are you doing here now, Santa Claus?' I asked him to come in and sit down ~ He looked so fat and rosy, but he looked hungry too so I gave him a cup of coffee and a chocolate donut. Then he said, 'Do you know three nice little girls?' and I said 'yes Santa Claus I do but they live far away from here in Washington.' He said, 'I'll get there by Christmas but just now I am so busy and I wondered if you would make three Xmas bags for them so when I get there Christmas Eve I can fill them with candy nuts and gum?' I told him I would be glad to. I told him you were all nice little girls so I hope you are. He didn't stay long. Said he would have to hurry becuase he had so much work to do.
"Yesterday I made the bags and am sending them to you. You tell mama to be sure and put them under the Christmas tree so Santa Claus can fill them ~
"Grandpa Butchie is still far away from us so grandma Alice and I are alone ~
"The robins are still taking baths in the back yard so they will be clean when they take their trip ~
"Bye now with loads of love and kisses from ~
"Grandma Anna ~"
