At the time of the June 19, 1905 Minnesota state census, Minnie was 19 years old and living with her parents and five siblings in St. George, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer. At the time of the Apr. 19, 1910 U.S. federal census, Minnie was 23 years old and living with her parents and five siblings in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota. Her farmer was working as a farmer in general farming. Minnie married Albert F. Herbst on Jan. 20, 1913 in Duelm, Benton, Minnesota when she was 26 and he was 36 years old. A little over a year later they were blessed with the birth of a son, Edmund Martin. Unfortunately husband Albert died Aug. 20, 1915 in Stearns County, Minnesota at the age of 38. She suddenly found herself widowed at the age of 29 with a 1-1/2 year old child. Her brother Frank moved in with her and her son to help with the farm. At the time of the Feb. 14, 1920 U.S. federal census, Minnie was 32 years old, widowed and living with her brother Frank Ahrens and her son Edmund in District 82, Glendorado, Benton, Minnesota. She was working as a farmer in general farming and her brother was a farm laborer on the home farm. At the time of the Apr. 23, 1930 U.S. federal census, Minnie was 44 years old, widowed and living with her 16-year-old son Edmund in District 4 of Glendorado, Benton, Minnesota. She was working as a farmer on their poultry farm. The family had a radio. Minnie died Apr. 18, 1965 in Stearns County, Minnesota. She was 78 years old. |
