| Notes: | At the time of the June 8, 1900 U.S. federal census, Frances was 2 years old and living with her parents and her 1-year-old brother, George, on a farm in |
| Mayhew Lake, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was a 28-year-old farmer born in New York state.
At the time of the June 20, 1905 Minnesota state census, Frances was 7 years and 8 months old and living with her parents, four siblings and her 44-year-old maternal grandmother, Frances Meyer. Her father John was working as a farmer. Mary was a very well-known little girl and was popular with all. On Saturday afternoon, February 9, 1907, Mary had gone out to help do some of the chores around the family farm. She crawled up on a stack to get straw. There was substantial ice and snow on the stack and as the young girl was trying to get the straw out it slide down like an avalanche. Tragically the stack tipped over and in the chaos Mary's neck was broken. She died a few minutes later, just 9 years old. |
