  Mayhew Lake, Benton, Minnesota. His father was a 28-year-old farmer born in New York state.
 
At the time of the June 20, 1905 Minnesota state census, George was 6 years and 2 months old and living with his parents, four siblings and his 44-year-old maternal grandmother, Frances Meyer. His father John was working as a farmer.
 
At the time of the Apr. 23, 1910 U.S. federal census, George was 11 years old and living with his parents and five younger siblings in Mayhew Lake, Benton, Minnesota. His 38-year-old father John was working as a farmer in general farming.
 
On Sept. 12, 1918, when George was registering for the draft during WWI, he was 19 years old and occupied in farming for his father in Sauk Rapids, with whom he lived. George was of medium height and build, with grey eyes and dark brown hair.
 
On Jan. 20, 1920 at the time of the U.S. federal census, George was 26 years old, single and working as a tenant farmer in Saint George, Benton, Minnesota.
 
At the time of the Apr. 8, 1930 U.S. federal census, George was 31 years old and living with his wife Theresa and their five children on their own farm in Saint George, Benton, Minnesota. He was working as a farmer in general farming. He and Theresa were married when they both were 23 years old. They were still living in Saint George, Benton, Minnesota as of Apr. 1, 1935.
 
As of Apr. 13, 1940 at the time of the U.S. Census, George was 41 years old and living with his 41-year-old wife Theresa and their nine children ranging in age from 17 to 1 years old in Saint George, Benton, Minnesota. George was a farmer who worked 60 hours a week, 52 weeks a year in 1939.
