Notes: David and Peggy McGrath were married on Feb. 4, 1837 at Cloughprior (Cloughprior and Monsea, Killodiernan, Monsea and Killodiernan, Puckane -- parish variants) Parish,
  Killaloe Diocese in Monsea, Tipperary, Ireland. Daughter Mary was born in the same parish and baptized there Dec. 20, 1840; son Thomas was born and baptized in the same parish on May 6, 1846. Their three youngest children David, Margaret, and Anna were born in Essex County, New York, in the United States.

At the time of the June 13, 1865 New York state census, Margaret was 54 years old and living with her husband David (age 50) and their four children in a log house valued at $15 located in the First Election District of Jay, Essex, New York. David was working as a farmer.

On June 24, 1870 at the time of the federal census, Margaret was 59  years old and living with her husband David, their son David (age 19), daughters Margarite (age 17) and Anna (age 14), and a 12-year-old boy, Maley Stringham, in Jay, Essex county, New York. Anna and Maley were not attending school at the time. Margaret and David were born in Ireland, however their children were born in New York [Source: 1870 Federal Census, NA Film No. 936, pp. 35-36].
 
At the time of the June 1, 1875 New York state census, Margaret was 64 years old and living in a log house valued at $300 on their own farm with her husband David (age 60) and their children David (age 23) and Anna (age 20). David was a naturalized citizen and a farmer.

At the time of the June 27, 1895 Minnesota State census, Margaret was 83 years old and living with her husband David, daughter Anna Stickney, Anna's husband Robert and their three children (her grandchildren) at 322 E. 15th St. in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. Her son-in-law was working as a sidewalk foreman [Source: 1895 State Census, Ward 5, Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, FHL Film No. 0565779, p. 90].
