his parents, and four younger siblings on the family farm in Disctrict 15 of St. George, Benton, Minnesota. Lester's 29-year-old uncle, Ambrose Pollard, lived on his own farm next door.
Grandfather John, father Joseph and Uncle Ambrose were all working as farmers in general farming. Lester and his brother
Felix were attending school.
Lester was 19 years old when he married Elizabeth Marie Kill on Mar. 16, 1943 in Morris, Stevens, Minnesota. They were living in Stevens County, Minnesota when he enlisted in the U.S. Army on Nov. 11, 1944 at the age of 21. Lester, Elizabeth and the family lived at 76 Rte. 1 and at 39199 140th Street in Cyrus, Pope, Minnesota. Lester died at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, Cass, North Dakota at the age of 84. He was buried in Section 12, Site 285 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Morrision, Minnesota. |
