Notes: Leslie Eugene Kampa was born on January 9, 1913, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, to Kathryn Anne Mitchell, age 20, and William John Kampa, age 25.
 
Leslie was living with his parents in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, at the time of the U.S. federal census on February 13, 1920.
 
His sister Elizabeth Maitland was born on June 19, 1922, in Sturgis, South Dakota, when Leslie Eugene was 9 years old.
 
In 1929 when he was 16 years old, Leslie lived in Adrian, Michigan where he played the bassoon in the Band (in his junior year) and Orchestra (in his senior year) at Adrian High School. Leslie was among six Orchestra members who went to Chicago to play in the National High School Orchestra.
 
At the time of the April 2, 1930 U.S. census, Leslie was 17 years old and living with his parents and sister Elizabeth in a home they rented for $35/month at 603 Maumee St., Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. The family owned a radio. He and his sister were attending school. His father was working as a commercial salesman for a wholesale drug business and stated he was born in Minnesota and both his parents were born in Germany. Leslie was living in Dundee, Michigan, in 1932, and he married Geraldine F. Rogers in Monroe, Monroe, Michigan, on June 5, 1932, when he was 19 years old.
 
In 1934 when he was 21 years old, Leslie and Geraldine Kampa were living at 814 N. Main in Adrian, Michigan. Leslie was working as a clerk at the Great A&P Tea Company. His parents were living in the same town at 245 W. Church. [Source: 1934 Adrian City Directory]
 
As of Apr. 1, 1935, Leslie and Geraldine Kampa were living in Adrian, Michigan, where their daughter Karol Ann was born in 1936.
 
At the time of the Apr. 29, 1940 U.S. federal census, Leslie was 27 years old and living with his wife and daugher in a house rented for $20/month at 6 White in Blissfield, Michigan. He was working 65 hours a week as a manager at the A&P Store. He had worked 52 weeks in 1939. Both he and his wife were high school graduates.
 
When he was 36 years old Leslie's mother Kathryn Anne passed away on Feb. 11, 1949, in Del Mar, California, at the age of 56. Leslie was 68 years old when his father William John passed away on Mar. 16, 1981, in Sturgis, South Dakota, at the age of 93. His sister Elizabeth Maitland died on Dec. 21, 1986, in Santa Rosa, California, when Leslie was 73 years old.
 
In 1950 and 1956, both Leslie and Geraldine were listed in the Adrian, Michagan U.S. City Directory as living at 821 Vine in Adrian, Michigan. Leslie was working for Maple City Rug Cleaners.
 
In the U.S. public records and phone and address books for 1992 and 1994, Leslie and Geraldine were listed as living at 1521 Heather Ridge Blvd. in Dunedin, Florida.
 
Leslie Kampa passed away in Dunedin on June 20, 1996 when he was 83 years old, and was buried at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Pinellas, Florida.
