Hardy, Frances Mary - Age 96, of Lapeer, passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 at
Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, Fr. Tim MacDonald, celebrant. The
family will receive friends 10 AM Thursday until time of mass at church. Interment will follow in
New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Tuesday and 1-8 PM Wednesday
at Sharp Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Contributions
may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
 Frances was born February 24, 1912 in Brainard, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and
Annie (Zuik) Popilek. She married Joseph D.C. Hardy
in Port Huron in 1931. Frances was the owner/operator of Raincheck Lounge and Hardy's Lounge in Flint; Pinewood Inn, AuGres and
SeaBreeze Hotel in Houghton Lake. She was also a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Burton.
Surviving are her son, Arthur J. Hardy and wife,
Virginia; daughter, Barbara Jean Turner and husband, David; grandchildren, Joseph D.C. Hardy I and
wife Debbie, Pamela Louise Hardy, Denise Kay Dobbs and husband, David, Donald N. Turner and wife,
Laurie, David A. Turner and wife Janene; great-grandchildren, Jerry Allen Shipley and wife,
Sabrina, Joseph D.C. Hardy II and wife, Machelle, Nicholas Shipley and wife, Jacki,
Lisa Hardy, Danielle McGlone, Brian Cartier, Kriston and Sarah Hardy, Travis, Kristopher and
Samuel Turner; great-great-grandchildren, Ashlie, Brooke, Carlie, Cora, Hunter, Joseph D.C. III, Marissa,
Quinton, Stephine, Troy, Tucker and Van; 3 brothers, Leon, Ray and Danny Popilek; sister, Annette Neal; and
42 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph D.C. Hardy;
parents, Joseph and Annie Popilek; 3 brothers, Joseph,
Edward and Archie Popilek; sisters, Eva Popilek, Grace Hohn; great-grandson,
Jason G. McGlone. The family extends thanks to Suncrest Nursing Home for the loving care they
