Notes: At the time of the April 23, 1910 federal census, Eugene was nine months old and living with his parents and four
  siblings on the family farm in St. George Twp., Benton Co., MN. His paternal grandmother, Katherine Carey, lived next door.

At the time of the Jan. 27, 1920 U.S. Census, Eugene was 10 years old and living on a farm in Saint George, Benton, Minnesota with his parents, four siblings and a step-brother, Henry Hylton (age 21 and born in Kansas like his mother, Beatrice). His father Anthony (age 53) was working as a farmer in general farming and step-son Henry was helping him work on the family farm. Eugene and his siblings were attending school at the time.

At the time of the April 11, 1930 census, Eugene was 18 years old and living with his parents and younger brother John on the family farm in St. George Township. The family did not own a radio. He stated he was born in Minnesota, his father was born in Kentucky and his mother was born in Kansas.

At the time of the April 6, 1940 U.S. Census, Eugene (age 29) and Irene Carey (age 22) were living with their two young daughters, Elizabeth Ann (age 2) and Constance (age 10 mos.), in their own home valued at $1,000 in Foley Village, Benton, Minnesota. Eugene was working as a storeroom clerk in a retail department store. He worked 54 hours the week of March 24-30, 1940; he worked for 52 full-time weeks in 1939 and earned $840 that year. As of April 1, 1935, both Eugene and Irene were living elsewhere; Eugene was in Benton County in a village having less than 2,500 inhabitants, and Irene was in Sherburne County likewise in a village having less than 2,500 inhabitants. Eugene's highest level of education attained was two years of high school, and Irene had finished the eighth grade.

In 1993 Eugene and Irene were living at 2755 Adell Lane NE in Salem, Marion, Oregon.

Eugene died May 7, 1997 in Salem, Marion Oregon at the age of 88. He was buried in Section S Site 4015 of the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
