Notes: At the time of the April 6, 1940 U.S. Census, mother Irene (age 22) told the census taker, Benedict. P. Latterell, that
  her husband Eugene (age 29) and she were living with their two young daughters, Elizabeth Ann (age 2) and Constance (age 10 mos.), in their own home valued at $1,000 in Foley Village, Benton, Minnesota. Eugene was working as a storeroom clerk in a retail department store. He worked 54 hours the week of March 24-30, 1940; he worked for 52 full-time weeks in 1939 and earned $840 that year. As of April 1, 1935, both Eugene and Irene were living elsewhere; Eugene was in Benton County in a village having less than 2,500 inhabitants, and Irene was in Sherburne County likewise in a village having less than 2,500 inhabitants. Eugene's highest level of education attained was two years of high school, and Irene had finished the eighth grade. Mother Irene was 19 years old when she got married.
