At the time of the Apr. 2, 1940 U.S. federal census, Ernest was 19 years old and living with his parents and five younger siblings on their the family farm worth about $1,000 in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota. They all had been living in the same house on Apr. 1, 1935. He and his father William were working as farmers on the family farm. Ernest was stationed on the USS Cleveland (CL-55) in early 1946 as a Seaman 1st Class. Ernest died on July 12, 1984 in Stearns County, Minnesota at the age of 63. He was buried at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Duelm, Benton, Minnesota. |
