Notes: At the time of the Minnesota state census on Oct. 28, 1857, Emma was 1 year old and living with her parents and
  3 siblings in Township 116, Carver, Minnesota. She was the first member of her family to be born in Minnesota.
 
At the time of the June 11, 1860 U.S. Federal Census, Emma was three years old and living with her parents and four siblings in Laketown, Carver, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer with $1,000 in real estate and $400 in personal estate. She was still living in Laketown with her family at the time of the Minnesota 1860 state census.
 
At the time of the May 1, 1875 Minnesota state census, Emma was 18 years old and living with Horace B. and H. B. Strait and their three children in Shakopee, Scott, Minnesota.
 
At the time of the June 5, 1895 Minnesota state census, Emma was 38 years old and living with her husband Peter and their three daughters in Franklin, Wright, Minnesota. Her husband was working as a farmer.
 
At the time of the June 2, 1900 U.S. federal census, Emma was 43 years old and living with her husband Peter and their three daughters in Independence, Hennepin, Minnesota. Her husband was working as a farmer.
 
At the time of the June 26, 1905 Minnesota state census, Emma was 48 years old and living with her husband Peter Jens and their youngest daughter Theresia in Wright, Delano, Minnesota. Peter was a retired farmer.
 
At the time of the Apr. 23, 1910 U.S. federal census, Emma was 53 years old and living with her husband Peter J. and their youngest daughter Theresa M. in Wright, Delano, Minnesota. Emma was working out as a nurse. Peter had his own income.
 
At the time of the Jan. 23, 1920 U.S. federal census, Emma was 63 years old, a widow and living alone renting in Wright, Delano, Minnesota.
 
At the time of the Apr. 10, 1930 U.S. federal census, Emma was 73 years old and living with with her daughter Theresa, Theresa's husband Francis D. McElwee and their two daughters in Wright, Delano, Minnesota. Theresa's husband was working as an inspector in road construction.
 
Emma died in Hennepin County, Minnesota on Oct. 29, 1949 at the age of 92.
