Marie Stimler

Marie C. Parent (née Stimler). "Marie attended nurse's training in St. Cloud and worked there at the hospital for a long time. When she was close to retirement, she worked in a doctor's office. She was there at the hospital when my daughter, Judy, was born. I had gained so much weight and was miserable. Marie said she'd fix me up, and she and her friend, Angie, also a nurse, gave me castor oil and orange juice. I went into labor, she took me to the hospital, and was in the room when Judy was born. Then ten glorious days in bed!
"Marie helped the folks out financially and sent money home after the crash of 1929. She married later in life to a Foley banker, John Parent, and they never had children.
"She was 'the lady' of the family -- more refined and reserved than the rest of us. She didn't go dancing or do all the crazy stuff we did, but she could be a lot of fun."
