He volunteered at the Okanogan School District. Bill was shot once in the chest with a pistol by a tenant, Tony Halford, at 1481 Old Highway 97 in Malott over an eviction dispute. Bill's wife Anita was with him when it happened and crouched down, believing that she would be shot too, but Halford walked out on the porch and shot himself instead. Both men were killed in the conflict and Anita was uninjured. Bill was 65 years old at the time of his death. |
