| Notes: |
George was baptized on May 31, 1883 at the Holy Name
of Mary Church in Almonte, Ontario. His godparents were
John Dowdall and Mary Murphy.
John, William and George started a merchantile store in 1898 after working for John Foley. After approximately one year, William sold out his interest to his brothers and again worked with John Foley. In addition to the merchantile store, the Hall brothers also owned and operated a grain elevator and a hotel in Foley. It was reported in the local paper that on market day (Saturday) when people came to town, the store boasted of having 32 clerks to accommodate the sales of groceries and clothing. The original merchantile store was destroyed by fire in October of 1947 but was rebuilt. The George Hall family moved to Los Angeles, CA in August 1912 where George owned and operated a grocery store. The family returned to Foley in April of 1916. |
