"After Jonathan Hunt's death, his widow Clemence married for his second wife John Smith of Milford, Connecticut. They were married in 1694. The Hunt Genealogy says nothing further about her, and I have never found any record of her death. However, in a little book entitled, 'Inscriptions on Tombstones in Milford, Conn.' by Nathan G. Pond (1889), I found this inscription (no. 398): "Mrs. Clement Smith, died September the 29th, 1698 in the __6 year --- her---." I think it very likely that this was the grave of Jonathan Hunt's wife." -- Laurentio G. Hunt, oldest son of John Hunt and Eliza King Hunt, 1898 |
