| Notes: | At the time of the May 1, 1885 Minnesota state census, Amy was less and a year old and living with her parents, |
| three older siblings and Emil Jorgenson from Norway, age 20, in Willmar, Kandiyohi, Minnesota.
Her parents were born in Norway, sister Jennie was born in England, and her two
other siblings were born in Minnesota like herself.
Amy and sister Laura had a similar love interest. Amy met Albert "Junior" Braithwaite first and she was very angry for awhile about him eventually deciding that he liked her sister better, and used rather strong language about it. Perhaps due to this romantic disappointment, Amy never married. In the January 19, 1920 U.S. Federal Census, Amy was 35 years old, single and living with her widowed father, Martin C. Jorgenson, at 402 Sixth St. in Willmar, Kandiyohi, Minnesota [1920 U.S. Census, Willmar, Kandiyohi, Minnesota; Roll: T625_841; Page: 23A; Enumeration District: 81]. Amy got along very well with her nephew Bud Braithwaite, although she didn't care much for his sister Lauretta. Bud took care of his Aunt Amy for several years. Both Amy and Laura lived in Bud's house in Minneapolis on the third floor. Florence Qvale Westman made the arrangements to get Amy into a nursing home after the death of her sister Laura because Amy did have some issues with playing with matches. Amy died just three days after great-nephew Doug Braithwaite was born so that was a very eventful time at the Braithwaite household. Amy passed away in Hennepin County, Minnesota on January 16, 1965 at the age of 80, and was buried in her brother-in-law Gauthe Qvale's family plot with her sisters Jennie and Laura at Fairview Cemetery, Willmar, Kandiyohi, Minnesota. |
