 A World War II veteran, Bill Jr. survived the D Day landing at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium.
 
After a two-year battle with numerous ailments, Bill Jr. died at 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2008 at the hospice facility at the age of 88.
