Teddy was born on the family farm June 8, 1931, near Rice to Anton and Clara (Witucki) Maier. After grade school in a small one room rural school, she attended St. Francis Catholic High School in Little Falls. The summers would find her mowing and raking hay with horses on the farm.

She went to nurses training at St. Francis Hospital in Little Falls, graduating as a registered nurse. She met Carl through his twin sister Clara while in high school; they were married Sept. 14, 1954, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. Teddy lived in St. Cloud most of her married life until moving to Grand Lake in 1990. She used her nursing skills and love of people working in pediatrics at the St. Cloud Hospital and later at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring and as a hospice volunteer.

Teddy was formerly a member of St. Paul's parish in St. Cloud and currently a member of Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Rockville where she volunteered in the religious education program, teaching 2nd grade religion classes and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Christian Women.

Teddy enjoyed summer gatherings at their lake home on Grand Lake since 1969. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking.

Teddy died of cancer at home in Rockville on Apr. 21, 2008 surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was 76 years old.

Jeanne Carley reminisces on her cousin Teddy: "This was my first cousin, Teddy, who was like a older sister to my sister and I. She and her sister, Genevieve (Genny), lived with us in Little Falls, Minn. while they attended St. Francis High School and afterward, she lived in one of our apartments when she attended the St. Gabriel School of Nursing across the street. She was the daughter of Anton Maier (my uncle Tony) and the granddaughter of Anna Kampa Maier, the wife of John Maier. Her brother's name is Oliver. We loved to visit on the farm with her, riding ponies, feeding the animals, picking berries near the creek, or just rolling around in the hay - it was just fun for us! We always used to bake cookies together at our house; she was a role model for us, always doing her homework on time and practicing her piano lessons , unlike her younger cousins. We shall greatly miss her!"
