The Homecoming Queen, chosen by the entire senior high school, was Joan Reed.
At eleven o'clock the processional,
reminiscent of traditional pomp and ceremony, began with the entrance of the
queen's attendants and the knights of the football field. Joan was escorted to
the throne by football captain Dave Koch. She was crowned by Joan Squires, who
had reigned over the previous year's festivities.
After the crowning, Joan and
Dave led the Grand March, and the dance continued until 12:30. Because it
was a warm, beautiful fall evening and the game an exciting match between
Robbinsdale and Wayzata, the dance crowd was one of the largest in the
history of social affairs at Wayzata High. Alumni and Robbinsdale and
Wayzata High School students jammed the floor and danced to the music of
Lou Robbins.
