ohn PILMAIER came to the United
States in 1846 from a very small town in Bavaria -- Haag, not far from the
Czecklosovakian border. His family were simple farmers. His ship went from
Bremen to New Orleans. He then travelled to St. Louis, married, and finally
settled in Dubuque, Iowa where several generations of Pilmaiers were born
(most of them named Joseph and John, making it way difficult and confusing
for us doing geneology!!!).
