(Don Kampa's memories of Pete Will): "Their second
child Peter was born in December of 1976. Pete has always
been quite the character. When he was a little kid he
was always into mischief. Pete was the livewire and the
rascal of the family. He was forever pushing buttons
and testing the limits of parental patience. I recall a
few stories about him. Once the family visited us in Tucson
and Dorothy and Joanie took Pete with them to K-Mart.
They were shopping for awhile, and all of a sudden the
fire alarms went off. They looked around, and Pete was
gone. They found him standing by the alarm. He had
pulled it. He just couldn't stand to see a button or switch
without pulling it or pushing it.
"Another time I had a hose hooked up to a spigot off the patio in Tucson. He was always turning the water on and fooling around with it, so I took the handle off the spigot. A little while later, I was sitting inside by the window, and he was outside. I heard him mumble, 'Grandpa doesn't know that I can turn this on with my teeth.' He was also found on the roof of the house once while Dorothy was looking after him. "On the positive side, Pete was blessed with musical talent and practical mechanical skills. While in high school he played the clarinet, keyboard and drums and developed special skills in the production of video and broadcasting. After high school he pursued becoming a disk jockey. With his natural enthusiasm, his love for music and his ability to speak in front of an audience he was quite a showman. striving to focus all of his skills and passions into one life's work. He is very good with people, so there are many fields he could go into. He has an engaging personality and is open and friendly with everyone. "Pete has recently become the father of twin girls, born April 12, 1997. He and their mother, Laura Montney, have named them Kayla and Hope. I'm looking forward to seeing my new great-granddaughters." |
