At the time of the January 26, 1920 federal census, Myrtle
was 1-8/12 years old and living with her parents and brother Charles St. George Twp.,
Benton County, Minnesota [Source: 1920 Federal Census, NA Film No. T625-824, p. 6B].
At the time of the April 7, 1930 federal census, Myrtle was 11 years old and living with her parents and her four siblings on a rented farm in Minden, Benton County, MN. Her father was working as a farmer. He stated that he and her mother were married when they both were 22 years old. The family did not own a radio [Source: 1930 Federal Census, NA Film No. T626-1078, E.D. 10, p. 3A]. Myrtle and Wally W. Pfielsticker married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. During WWII when Wally was in the Army Myrtle worked as telephone operator in Hillman, Minnesota. The couple lived in Wabasha after he returned from the war. She worked as a nursing assistant for the Wabasha Nursing Home for many years. Her husband died December 12, 1976. After retiring, she sold her home and moved to Eau Claire to live with her daughter. She was a member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Wabasha. She also was a member of the Wabasha American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries for more than 46 years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching game shows, playing bingo and contests, always hoping to win the big one. Myrtle died Tuesday evening, April 27, 2004, at the home of her daughter Judith in Eau Claire where she had resided for the past 15 years. She was 85 years old. |
