"Mike J. Kampa, 43, Groton area
farmer, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 16.
"Services are scheduled for Thursday, April 20, at the
United Methodist Church in Groton at 2 p.m. The Rev. Larry Moore will officiate and burial will be in
Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
"Mr. Kampa was born Nov. 9, 1928, at Duelm, Minn. After his
parents' death, he was raised by an older sister and then by a brother. In 1945 he moved to Houghton where he did farm work.
On Jan. 29, 1952, he married Darlys James at Columbia. They have farmed in the Groton vicinity their
entire married life. In 1966 he had open heart surgery at the University Hospital in Minneapolis.
"He was a member of the Groton United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge.
"Survivors include his widow; five sons, David, a student at Lake Area Vocational &
Technical School at Watertown, Dwight, Darwin, Derwin and Michael, all at home; one daughter, Darlyne, at home;
three brothers, Raymond, Dover, Minn., Gene of St. Cloud, Minn., and Lawrence of Cushing, Minn.; six sisters,
Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Dahler, St. Cloud, Mrs. Emma Hafman, Duelm, Mrs. Pete (Rose) Woolhouse, Becker,
Minn., Mrs. Ed (Leona) Wojchowski, Mrs. Ralph (Bertha) Barthelemy and Mrs. John (Delores) Zulkosky, all of Foley, Minn.
"He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister."
