At the time of the April 18, 1910 federal census, John was 21 years old and living with his parents and four siblings in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was working as a machinist in a steel mill. His father was a watchman in a woolen mill, and his two elder sisters worked as reelers in a woolen mill. Brother William was working as an apprentice at a heat manufacturing company.
 
At the time of the U.S. WWI draft registration on June 5, 1917, John was 27 years old and working as a machinist for American Bridge Company in Pencoyd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. He was living at 229 Gates Street in Philadephia. John was short and stout, with blue eyes and red hair.
 
At the time of the Apr. 4, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, John was 40 years old and living with his wife Anna M. and their five daughters ranging in age from 11 years to 1 year 3 months old in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was working as an engineer at the mill.
 
In 1942 at the time of the U.S. WWII draft registration, John was 53 years old and living with his wife Anna at 4784 Silverwood Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was working for Alan Wood Co., Conshohocken.
 
John died on June 10, 1955 in Philadelphia at the age of 65. He was buried with his wife Anna M. in Lot 136 of Westminster Cemetery at Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
