Notes: James was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on July 15, 1913.
 
At the time of the Apr. 10, 1930 U. S. Federal Census, James J. was 16 years old and living with his parents and sister Ethel G. in Brook Park Village District 9, Pine, Minnesota. His father Joseph was working as a section foreman.

James Kampa and Ethel Moore were married in Fargo, North Dakota on May 30, 1942. They had 11 children, nine of whom are still living.
 
James was certified in meteorology on July 25, 1946 in Willmar, Minnesota.
 
James was transferred to Grantsburg, Wisconsin in 1949. He and Ethel were living at 3546 Anderson Drive in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1985.
 
James passed away on July 5, 1998 in Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was 85 years old.
