His 38-year-old father John was working as a farmer in general farming. At the time of the Jan. 23, 1920 U.S. federal census, James was 15 years old and living with his 47-year-old widowed father John, three brothers and two younger sisters on their mortgaged farm in Dist. 90, St. George, Benton, Minnesota. A cousin on their mother's side, Clara Imholte, helped with chores around the house. His father was a farmer engaged in general farming, and James and his two elder brothers were all laborers on the home farm. James A. Pollard arrived in Saskatchewan, Canada on Sept. 23, 1926. As of Apr. 1, 1935 James was living in St. George, Benton, Minnesota. On Apr. 25, 1940 James was 37 years old and living in a rented home in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota with his 26-year-old wife, Myrtle J., and their five children ranging in age from 7 years to 1-1/2 years old. James was a trucker working on his own account in the livestock industry. He worked 60 hours a week, 52 weeks a year in 1939. He and Myrtle had been married for eight years. James died Apr. 24, 1971 in Hamilton, Ravalli, Montana. He was 67 years old. |
