She completed study at the University of Pennsylvania and recived a Bachelor of Education degree in 1964. Ida was on the faculty of the Oral Hygiene Department of the University of Pennsylvania Dental School for a number of years and continued with graduate work at the University. She also taught at the Vanguard School in Haverford, PA before moving to Arizona in 1973.

Ida was a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and other state associations. She enjoyed her volunteer work at several Tucson assisted living facilities through the years, and worked with the Widow to Widowed Services Association. In later years she was active with SAAVI, the Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired. For a number of years she was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson.

Her loves included her family, her art, her talking books and her writing group. For more than 20 years, Ida was fortunate to have enjoyed the company of her many wonderful friends at the Casitas de Castilian.
