Notes: At the time of the June 20, 1895 Minnesota State Census, Nellie was 2 years old and living with her parents and
  three siblings in Haven, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer.
 
At the time of the June 13, 1900 U.S. Federal Census, Nellie was 6 years old and living with her parents and five siblings on the family farm in Dist. 320 ofWatab, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer.
 
At the time of the June 8, 1905 Minnesota State Census, Nellie was 12 years old and living with her parents, seven siblings, Fayette Putnam (an 18-year-old farm laborer born in Minnesota), and 70-year-old maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Keller, on the family farm in Haven, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her father raised stock for a living while her two eldest brothers, Freed and N.K., worked as laborers on the farm in addition to the aforementioned Fayette.
 
At the time of the May 7, 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Helen L. was 17 years old and living with her parents, seven siblings, maternal grandmother Elizabeth Keller, and 27-year-old single servant, Jacob Schuppel from Germany, on the family farm in Haven, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her father was a farmer in general farming, and brothers N.K. and Robert L. worked with him as farm laborers along with the aforementioned Jacob Schuppel. Elder brother Freed K. was working as a telephone operator for the railroad.
 
At the time of the Jan. 2, 1920 U.S. Federal Census, Helen was 27 years old and living with her husband Ulrich and his two children from a previous marriage, Eloise (age 16) and Wilbur (age 11), on the 4500 block of Charles Street in Chicago Ward 25, Cook (Chicago), Illinois. Her husband was working as a U.S. mail carrier, and both the children were attending school.
 
At the time of the Apr. 5, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Helen was 36 years old and living with her husband Ulrich  and their four children at 6304 Magnolia Avenue in Dist. 51, Chicago, Cook, Illinois, which they rented for $90/month. Ulrich was working as a salesman in a real estate office. Stepdaughter Eloise was working as a secretary in a law office and stepson Wilbur was working as a manager of a department store. The family owned a radio. Helen married Ulrich when she was 20 years old. Ulrich was 25 years old at his first marriage.
