GRACE "Instant Grace" MARIE LOOK
(née BALDER)

Minden, Benton County, MN. Her father was working as a farmer. Her mother stated that she and Otto were married when they both were 22 years old. The family did not own a radio [Source: 1930 Federal Census, NA Film No. T626-1078, E.D. 10, p. 3A].
 
At the time of the Apr. 10, 1940 U.S. federal census, Grace was 16 years old and living with Louis and Alvina B. Strauch (80 and 75 years old, respectively), in Hillman Village, Morrison, Minnesota. She was working as a maid doing housework in a private home. Her highest grade of education was 8th grade. Five homes away lived her future husband Glenn Look, age 30, with his sister Bernice E., her husband Clarence Florek, their two daughters, and a 22-year-old maidservant, Clara Sahr. Glenn had been living in the same house five years ago. He currently was working as a farm laborer on a farm.

Grace married Glenn Erwin Look on Jan. 17, 1942 and they moved to 619 S. 10th in Brainerd, Minnesota. On July 9, 1942 Glenn enlisted in the Army; he would be discharged on Dec. 14, 1945. Eight years later Grace and Glenn would begin their family; they had three daughters, Joyce, Jane and Teri.

Grace died on Oct. 19, 2008 in Saint Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd, Crow Wing, Minnesota. She was 85 years old.
