Hobbies: Following in the footsteps of Grandpa Stimler, I am a die-hard ice fisherman. Only two years ago I retired the ice
house he and his neighbor Eric Lofquist built in the mid 1960s. I still use a couple of pieces of equipment Grandpa gave me, an old spoon type ice auger and an ice scoop. I have some of his old jig sticks as well, but they're pretty tired. I am also an avid hunter, and spend many days afield with my wife, kids, and friends. I coached baseball for several years in the Plymouth/Wayzata league, and was a commissioner of the one of the leagues, and served a term on the league board.

Notes: Although I love ice fishing, the early days with Grandpa and Dad could be brutal. Grandpa's rule was that we
couldn't set up the collapsible fish house until we caught some fish. We would trudge around Wayzata Bay on Lake Minnetonka, dragging the collapsed ice house and all of our gear on small sleds Grandpa and Eric Lofquist made, drilling holes to check depths, fish a bit, and then move on until we caught some crappies. Bear in mind that this was the early 1960s, long before Thinsulate, Gortex, and pack boots were available. Once we caught fish though, it was great! My kids don't know how good they have it with today's cold weather gear, portable electronics, and propane heaters. Up until the Eurasian water milfoil took over the lake, I still fished all of the spots I learned from Grandpa. 37th year fishing Wayzata Bay. I also fish all over Minnesota with a portable house too.

We are currently living in Plymouth, MN, and have just bought a new home in the country on 2-½ acres with a small orchard and over 160 evergreen trees surrounding the perimeter of the property. We love all things Minnesotan, (including winter!), but also love to travel the US, Canada, and Europe. Our home is the primary home for all three kids, and we spend a lot of time driving them to and from their numerous sports, music, and academic activities.
