At the time of the 1895 Minnesota state census, George was 7 years old and living with his
parents and younger sister Lena in Minnetrista, Hennepin, Minnesota. His father was working as a clerk in a store.
On June 20, 1900 at the time of the U.S. federal census, George was 11 years old and living with his parents and three younger sisters in Minnetrista Township, Hennepin, Minnesota. Boarding with the family was William Peters, a 29-year-old single man from Pennsylvania who was working as a telegraph operator. George's father was working as a clerk in a general store. George was attending school. At the time of the June 26, 1905 Minnesota state census, George was 16 years old and living with his parents and four siblings in Minnetrista, Hennepin, Minnesota. He was working as a clerk and his father Gustav was a merchant. On April 18, 1910 George was 21 years old and living with his parents and four siblings in Minnetrista, Hennepin, Minnesota. He was working as a salesman in a grocery store. His father Gustav was was a retail merchant selling general merchandise. On June 5, 1917 George was 28 years old, single and working as a clerk in a general store, Sames & Dullems, in St. Bonifacius, Hennepin, Minnesota. He was of medium height, stout, with brown eyes and light brown hair. On Jan. 5, 1920, George was 31 years old, single and living alone in Waconia, Carver, Minnesota. He was working as a salesman in a general store. At the time of the Apr. 3, 1930 U.S. federal census, George was 42 years old and living with his wife Cecilia A. and their five young children in a home on Cleveland Avenue, St. Bonifacius, Hennepin, Minnesota that they rented for $25 a month. The family owned a radio. George was the proprietor of a retail grocery store. George died in Stearns County, Minnesota on Dec. 18, 1955 at the age of 67. Robert R. Mullally recalls George and Cecilia Sames: "My wife's parents, Andy & Otillia Thurk, had a grocery store in St. Bonifacius, MN, in the early 1930's with George & Cecelia Sames." |
