At the time of the Apr. 26, 1910 U.S. federal census, Frances was 6 years old and living with her parents and 6 siblings on a farm in St. George, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was a farmer in general farming, and her 14-year-old brother Joseph was a farm laborer on the home farm. At the time of the Jan. 15, 1920 U.S. federal census, Frances was 16 years old and living with her parents and 6 siblings on the family farm in District 90 of Saint George, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer in general farming, her brothers Peter and Clement were working as farm laborers, and sister Lucy was a clerk in a general store. Her father Joe had emigrated to the United States in 1895 and became a naturalized citizen in 1897. At the time of the Apr. 21, 1930 U.S. federal census, Frances was 26 years old and living with her 31-year-old husband, John Jackels, and their 5 children in a rented home in District 13 of Palmer, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her husband was working as a farmer in general farming. They were married when he was 23 and Frances was 18 years old. Daughters Lillian (age 7) and Marceline (age 5) were attending school. At the time of the Apr. 2, 1940 U.S. federal census, Frances was 36 years old and living with her 41-year-old husband, John J., and their 9 children ranging in age from 16 years to 6 months old on their own farm valued at $1,000 in St. George, Benton, Minnesota. The family had been living in the same place on Apr. 1, 1935. Husband John J. was working as a farmer on the farm. Seven of the children were attending school. Frances told the census enumerator that both she and her husband had an 8th-grade education. Frances died Nov. 27, 1998 at Sauk Rapids, Benton, Minnesota. She was 94 years old. |
