At the time of the August 1, 1870 U.S. Federal Census, Edward was 1 month old and living with his parents and eight siblings in Munson, Stearns County, Minnesota. Both his father Henry and eldest brother Bernard (age 17) were working as blacksmiths [Source: 1870 U.S. Federal Census, Stearns Country, Minnesota, Roll M593-11].
 
In the 1880 United States census, Eddie was 10 years old and living with his parents, six siblings and maternal grandmother Katie Vosberg on the family farm in Stearns County, Minnesota [Source: NA Film No. T9-0634, p. 387B].
 
At the time of the January 16, 1920 U.S. Federal Census, Edward was 49 years old and living with his wife Sophia and their daughters Marie and Frances at their own residence under mortgage in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Both he and Sophia were married when they were 24 years old. He was working as a blacksmith at Pan Motor Company [Source: 1920 U.S. Federal Census, St. Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota, Roll T625-863, Page 12A, E.D. 210].
 
At the time of the April 7, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Edward was 59 years old and living with his wife Sophia and two roomers, Evelyn Threra (age 21, single) and Elegment Cummings (male age 18, single) in St. Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota. He and Sophia owned their own residence valued at $9,000; the family had a radio. Edward was working as a blacksmith at the paper mill [Source: 1930 U.S. Federal Census, St Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota; Roll T626-1131; Page 12B; E.D. 55].
 
During his life Edward resided in Richmond, Clear Lake, Clearwater and St. Cloud, Minnesota.
