At the time of the May 1, 1885 Minnesota state census, Bertha was 1 year old and
living with her parents in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her father Joseph was born in Ohio and mother Mary was born
in Minnesota.
At the time of the 1895 Minnesota state census, Bertha was 12 years old and living with her parents and four younger siblings in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer. At the time of the June 1, 1900 U.S. federal census, Bertha was 16 years old and living with her parents and seven younger siblings in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. Her father Joseph H. was working as a farmer. At the time of the June 5, 1905 Minnesota state census, Bertha was 21 years old and living with her parents and seven younger silbings in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. Both her father Joseph and brother Henry were working as farmers. On September 12, 1918, Bertha's husband Paul was an implement dealer in business for himself and living with her and their three children in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota [Source: WWI Draft Registration Card, Sherburne County, Minnesota; Roll 1682641, Draft Board 0]. At the time of the Jan. 31, 1920 census, Bertha was 36 years old and living with her husband Paul and three children in E.D. 172, Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. She stated both her father and mother were born in Minnesota. The family owned their own farm but did not have a radio. Bertha died May 10, 1965 in Stearns County, Minnesota. She was 81 years old. |
