| ranging in age from 24 years to less than a month old on their own mortgaged farm in
Saint George, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer in general farming. He told the enumerator that he immigrated
to the United States from Ireland in 1887 and that he was a naturalized citizen. Mary was Hugh McIver's second wife; she
was born in Minnesota as were all their children.
In 1938 Thomas and Anna E. were living on a houseboat at N. Niagara 9 SW Genesee Avenue in Saginaw, Saginaw, Michigan. He was an employee of Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundary and she was working as a machine operator at Columbia Mills, Inc. At the time of the Apr. 18, 1940 U.S. census, Anna was 27 years old and living with her 32-year-old husband Thomas J. and their 2-year-old son, Allan J., in their own houseboat valued at $300 at 1400 North Michigan in Saginaw, Saginaw, Michigan. Thomas was living in rural Benton County, and Anna in rural Sherburn County, Minnesota as of Apr. 1, 1935. Thomas worked as a carpenter in the building construction industry 40 hours a week, 26 weeks a year, earning $390 in 1939, and Anna was a housewife. Anna told the census enumerator that both she and her husband had an eighth grade education. Ann died June 24, 2002 in Midland, Midland, Michigan. She was 90 years old. |
