| Notes: | Amy Elizabeth was born on February 5, in 1971, in Mount Holly, NJ. She started school at Infanta Montessori. |
| When the family moved to East Grand Rapids, Amy continued in a
Montessori program at Marywood Academy in GR. She started at Lakeside in first grade
and continued through East Middle and graduated from EGR High School. She earned her
BS degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware in Newark.
Her first job after graduation was at a Battered Women's Shelter in DE that provided temporary housing to abused women and their children and referrals to support services. Then she worked for the Treatment Access Center, a statewide chapter of a national program model called TASC. She worked on the Sentencing Accountability's research project, assessing the substance abuse treatment needs of all criminally sentenced offenders in Delaware, from incarcerated to probationers. It was a statewide needs assessment, the largest ever done in DE. Then she worked with offenders sentenced by the courts to participate in substance abuse treatment programs. She monitored their attendance and drug use and conducted regular status conferences to keep the judges informed of their progress. When DE expanded TASC to a statewide program, Amy was promoted to supervisor of the two southern counties. She helped implement the program and trained the court and treatment professionals to service the first statewide Drug Court in the United States. She worked for the DE Attorney General's office as a social worker in the juvenile unit, and worked with the victims of juvenile crimes ranging from minor crimes to felony assaults and burglaries. Alex was born in 1999 and life with a child was new. For a change in pace, Amy started designing and making stained glass projects in May 2000. She has found a market and is busy now in production. Wonderful Abigail was born in 2001 and life took a new turn. Life at the Brooks home is peaceful and full of energy. |
