"Death -- At Denver, Colorado, 23rd Feb,
William Hall, of Hall's Mills, aged 36 years."
"Many of our Almonte readers will remember
Mr. W. Hall, formerly of Almonte, but latterly
of Hall's Mills. When resident in the town he was in partnership with the late Mr. R. Foley,
in the hotel now carried on by Messrs. Kelly & Willoughby. Since then he had been running
a sawmill and speculating in mineral and other lands, but has for a long time laboured
under the disadvantage of delicate health. This at last necessitated his taking a trip
to a milder climate for recuperation. Previous to leaving he spent a few days here in
town, attending to some business matters, and it seems only yesterday he was amongst us,
but his journey to the south proved fruitless, and on Monday last a telegram was received
announcing his death from malignant smallpox. At time of writing we have not heard the
particulars of his death, but no doubt his already weakened frame succumbed to that tearful
scourge more rapidly than would otherwise have been the case. Mrs. Hall and family have the
sympathy of a very large circle of friends in their bereavement."
