At the time of her younger brother John's accidental death in October of 1878, Mary and her parents and siblings lived at 4103 Main Street, 21st Ward, Manayunk, Pennsylvania.
 
In the 1880 Pennsylvania Census, Mary was 24 years old, living with her parents and siblings in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA. She was working in a woolen mill [Source: 1880 Federal Census, NA Film No. T9-1180, p. 12C].
 
At the time of the June 6, 1900 federal census, Mary was 42 years old and living with her husband James and their four children at 4329 Fleming Street in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. James was working as a plumber and the three eldest children were all attending school.
