Lawrence Kampa, 67, Cushing


"CUSHING -- Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michaels Church in Motley for Lawrence Kampa, 67, a resident of Scandia Valley Township, who died Friday at the Greater Staples Care Center.
"The Rev. Raymond Ringwelski will officiate. Burial will be in the Motley Public Cemetery.
"Friends may call from 4 to 8 tonight at brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.
"Lawrence Kampa was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Duelm to Michael and Josephine (Stannek) Kampa. He married Rita Storkamp on July 1, 1948, in Sauk Rapids. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He worked for Maiers Transfer in St. Cloud for 16 years. In 1965 he moved with his family to Fish Trap Lake, where they owned and operated Four Pines Resort. In 1973, he worked for Morey Fish Coompany. He and his family then owned and operated Kampa Island View on Fish Trap Lake. He was a member of St. Michaels Church in Motley, the Randall VFW and Motley American Legion.
"Survivors include his wife, sons and daughters, Michael Kampa, Casper Wyo.; Larry Kampa, Jr., St. Louis Park; Charles Kampa, Fergus Falls; Jeffrey Kampa, Motley; Jackie Williams, Silverton, Ore.; and Carol Stowell, Montivideo; brother and sisters, Raymond, Wabasha; Leona Wojciechowski and Dolores Zulkosky, Foley; and 14 grandchildren.
"He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
"Pallbearers will be Jerry and Francis Zetah, Richard Willoughby, Richard Eich, Arnold Windschitl and Ken Suweker."
