Halls Mills was "... once a village on the
Indian River on the town line between Darling and Lanark townships, it was named after
William Hall who owned a saw mill there and
became a postmaster in the 1880's. By 1885 the post office had been discontinued and
the neighbourhood was serviced by rural mail delivery. Daniel Munro was an early village
blacksmith."
