Age 54

SERVICES: Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. and continue from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday, all at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Rev. Carl Lamppa will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Judith A. Kampa, 54, of Britt died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a long illness.

She was born May 19, 1949, in Shakopee to Matt and Louise (Intihar) Urick. She grew up in Biwabik and graduated in 1967. She attended Mesabi Junior College and Bemidji State, graduating in 1971. She worked for the Yellowstone Park Co. and Ketola’s Department Store and was a caregiver at the Eveleth Nursing Home while attending college. Judith was united in marriage to Richard Kampa on May 12, 1972, in Eveleth. She was an elementary education teacher for the St. Louis County School System and Director of Day Care Head Start Program at Nett Lake. In 1976, she started with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Virginia to the present. Judy shared many hobbies with her husband Rick, camping, canoeing, boating, fishing, hunting, archery, photography, scuba diving, and developing their recreational property. Judy had a great appreciation for art through her friend, Bonnie. She also loved traveling in pursuit of her hobbies.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; two sisters, Dorothy (Gene) Roots of Arizona and Betty (Tony) Chos of Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
